Australian fall-prevention requirements are intended to make sure that where a window presents a fall risk, the opening is appropriately restricted or protected, and that the device or screen relied upon is strong enough to perform when it matters.
For manufacturers and fabricators, the value goes beyond simply satisfying a particular project requirement. If a product is being supplied or promoted as a fall-prevention solution, there should be credible evidence behind that claim. AGWA guidance specifically calls for the relevant party to verify the performance of the device or screen and provide evidence of compliance, with an AS 5203 test report recognised as part of that compliance documentation.
