Minimal glazing and sashless window architecture
Sashless double hung / design benefits + motion engineering

More air.
Less frame.

A sashless double hung window strips away the visual weight of a conventional sash around the moving glass. The result can read remarkably close to fixed glazing while still giving the building a controllable source of natural ventilation.

Architect + homeowner view

Why choose
sashless double hung?

The opening type changes the way a room looks and behaves before any individual piece of hardware is chosen.

01

An opening window that looks almost fixed

Without a bulky sash frame around each moving pane, the glass remains the visual focus and the elevation stays unusually clean.

02

Maximum viewing area

Slim framing and overlapping glass can preserve more of the view than many conventional opening-window arrangements.

03

Top-and-bottom ventilation

Double hung configurations can open at both the head and sill zone. This supports useful air movement, with warm air able to escape higher while cooler air can enter lower when conditions allow.

04

Nothing projects into the room

The glass moves vertically, so there is no awning, casement or hopper sash projecting into a balcony, walkway, curtain or furniture zone.

05

Counterbalanced operation

Balancing systems offset glass mass so large panes can still feel controlled and easy to position.

06

Ventilation can be controlled

Depending on the complete window system, panes can be positioned or restricted for partial opening, and flyscreen strategies can be integrated without adding a swinging screen door.

Best when

View-critical homes, apartments, winter gardens, restaurants and cafes, narrow circulation zones, serveries and rooms where ventilation is needed without a projecting sash.

Design around

Fall-protection and opening restrictions, flyscreens, glass mass, balance selection, weather rating, acoustic strategy, cleaning access and whether single or double glazing best suits the project.

Engineering view

What changes
the motion.

Once the architectural intent is clear, these are the mechanical relationships that determine whether the opening still feels good years later.

01

Pulleys

Low-friction redirection of balancing forces within tight system geometry.

02

Balancing

Counterbalance behaviour has to suit glass mass and the intended user effort.

03

Guidance

Moving glass needs reliable lateral control without adding visual clutter.

04

Wear & durability

Small pulleys and running surfaces can accumulate high cycle counts over product life.

05

Packaging

Mechanisms must fit within the framing and maintain the sightline objectives of the sashless concept.

06

System interfaces

Mating profiles, cords, fixings and stops all influence reliability and serviceability.

From the idea
to the hardware.

CiiLOCK retains deep sashless-motion knowledge even though the corporate site is not a complete window catalogue. Complete sashless windows are supplied through specialist window fabricators, making the Motioneer pathway especially useful for architects and homeowners.

Good motion still needs
a good system maker.

CiiLOCK develops hardware and motion technology. Local fabricators turn that technology into complete windows and doors. If you are an architect or homeowner, we can help connect the project to a suitable local contact where our network allows.

Planning a sashless window
opening?

Homeowners and architects can start with a local Motioneer or partner where available. Fabricators and system manufacturers can talk directly to CiiLOCK about hardware, integration and engineering.
