TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE > VOLTA NOT OPERATING

Symptom	Possible Source	Actions to Confirm and/or Resolve
No response when attempting to operate the VOLTA	Power switch on control box switched off	On the leading edge of the door, flip the "Control Box" switch. If the light flashes green, the system is now powered on. In some cases, such as power surges, the VOLTA may go into safety mode. Simply switch the power off and back on again to start back up. If using the Powered Rail VOLTA, and the green light does not flash when switching on, Move to Powered Rail Section
	Flat battery (only applicable to battery version)	Close the door into the jamb, and leave for 30mins, allowing the door to charge. Ensure the door is switched on, and try to operate the door again. If the door still does not work, Move to the Battery Not Charging Troubleshooting Section.
	Handle not operating	See Handle Not Operating Troubleshooting Section.
	Battery not plugged into control unit	Ensure the power lead from the battery pack is plugged into the control unit.
VOLTA operates with remote control, but not with the handle	Handle not operating	See Handle Not Operating Troubleshooting Section.
VOLTA operates with the handle, but not the remote control	Too far from reciever	Ensure you are within 5m of the door you are trying to operate.

Symptom	Possible Source	Actions to Confirm and/or Resolve
There the LED light on the power adaptor is not on.	Mains power adaptor not plugged in	Ensure the power adaptor is plugged into the outlet, and that power is supplied to the outlet. If the LED still doesn’t shine, then the adaptor is faulty.
Power adaptor light shines green, but doesn’t shine red when the door is closed	Charging prongs to power adaptor connection broken	Ensure the plug from the charging prong is plugged into the socket from the power adaptor.
	Charging prongs not contacting battery terminals	Ensure when the door is closed into the jamb, that the charging prongs protrude far enough from the mounting surface to contact the battery terminals when the door is closed and/or locked. If not, use packers to shift the position of the charging contactor, or adjust stopped positions to make contact.
	Charging prongs installed upside down	Charging prongs should be oriented so that the cable for the prongs exits from the bottom. If the cable is exciting from the top, the prongs are upside down and the unit needs to be flipped.
	Battery over discharged	Use a multimeter to check the voltage across the battery terminal. If the voltage is between 11.8-16.8V it is in the normal operating range. If the voltage is below 11.8V, it has been over discharged and needs replacing.

Symptom	Possible Source	Actions to Confirm and/or Resolve
When applying force to either the internal or external handle, the handle doesn’t pivot, and the VOLTA doesn’t operate.	Handle installed with too little clearance	Check where the base of the handle contacts the door. If there is little or no gap between the handle and the door, then it has been installed incorrectly. The handle needs at least the thickness of one foam pad (approx 3mm) to operate correctly. Refer to handle the install guide.
Handle pivots, but the VOLTA doesn’t operate	Handle adaptor not plugged into control unit	Remove the control unit, and ensure the cable(s) from the handle adaptor are plugged into the back of the control unit.

Symptom	Possible Source	Actions to Confirm and/or Resolve
LED light on VOLTA control unit doesn’t blink twice when switched on	Mains power adaptor not plugged in	Ensure the power adaptor is plugged into the outlet, and that power is supplied to the outlet.
	Brush is not contacting the powered rail	The brush is installed at the top of the stile on the leading edge of the door. Ensure the brush is sitting high enough to make contact with the powered rail. If not, either move the brush upwards, or adjust the door panel higher.
	Brush not plugged into control unit	Ensure the lead from the from the brush is plugged into the socket in the back of the control unit.

When the handle or remote is used, you can hear the VOLTA rollers operate, but the door does not move	Door locked	Ensure the door is unlocked and free to open
Roller's operating in opposite directions	Ensure that both rollers are installed in the door so that both adjustment screws are facing to the outer edges
Only one VOLTA operating	Ensure that both VOLTA's are plugged into control unit.

Symptom	Possible Source	Actions to Confirm and/or Resolve
You have ensured that both VOLTA rollers are operating, and operating in the same direction (if neccesary), but the door is not moving.	Poor contact between drive wheel and track	Ensure that the rollers are adusted up high enough so that the weight of the door sash is not sitting or dragging on the track
		Adjust the roller up to maximum height, with the weight of the door applied, and adjust back down to desired height to establish good contact.
		Manually lift the door one end at a time, and place back onto the track to reset level.
		Ensure the track radius matches the specified track radius of the VOLTA Roller
	Dirty or contaminated track	Ensure the track and roller are free of dust, leaves, lubricants, cleaning fluids or other contaminants.

Symptom	Possible Source	Actions to Confirm and/or Resolve
Handle sticking in on position	Handle installed with no foam pads	Check to see if there is a foam pad between the handle and the door where the handle attaches to the door. If the foam pad is missing, one needs to be added. Refer to handle install guide.
	Handle installed with too much clearance	Check to see that when the handle is pivoted it makes firm contact with the foam pad on the face of the door. If not, the handle clearance needs to be adjusted. Refer to handle install guide.
	Handle needs to be "bedded in"	Handle and pivot adaptor requires "bedding in" to ensure good alignement. To "bed in" handle, loosen of all pivot adaptor fixing screws by 1/2 of a turn, and operate the handle in both directions 10 times, both inside and outside. Then tighten back the pivot adaptor screws, ensuring the screws are not over tightened. Repeat as required.
Handle has too much play	Handle installed with too much clearance	Check where the base of the handle attaches to the door. If there is a large daylight gap, then it has been installed incorrectly. The handle should sit away from the door at about the same thickness as the foam pad (approx 3mm) to operate correctly. Refer to handle the install guide.
Handle not pivoting	Handle installed with too little clearance	Check where the base of the handle contacts the door. If there is little or no gap between the handle and the door, then it has been installed incorrectly. The handle needs at least the thickness of one foam pad (approx 3mm) to operate correctly. Refer to handle the install guide.
